THE CJ CUP returns to Las Vegas this week, October 14-17 at The Summit Club. Last year’s winner Jason Kokrak will be challenged by nine members of the victorious US Ryder Cup Team, including Justin Thomas who won the first CJ CUP at Jeju Island, Korea, in 2017 and repeated as champion in 2019, and Brooks Koepka who won the event in 2018.
Seven members of the European Ryder Cup Team, including Sergio Garcia who became the all-time Ryder Cup leader in overall wins (24) and overall points (27.5), will also compete in the first PGA TOUR event staged at The Summit Club, as will Masters champion Hideki Matsuyama.
Also in the field will be seven CJ Logistics-sponsored golfers: Sungjae Im (The Honda Classic 2020 winner, Si-woo Kim (winner of The American Express 2021), Kyoung-Hoon Lee (2021 AT&T Byron Nelson winner), Sung Kang (Top 3 Korean players from the Official World Golf Ranking), Minkyu Kim (Sponsor exemption), Byeong Hun An and Joohyung Kim.
THE CJ CUP, sponsored by the CJ Group, a global lifestyle company based in South Korea, will be played in the United States for the second year in a row due to COVID-19 safety considerations. The 2020 event was held at Shadow Creek in Las Vegas. From 2017-2019, THE CJ CUP was played at The Club @ Nine Bridges on Jeju Island, Korea. This year, CJ’s global food brand, Bibigo, is serving as the main sponsor.
CJ Logistics America is hosting customers for an exclusive experience as CJ leaders and customers watch the action in the VIP Hospitality space or walking the course. Some will also be playing in the Pro-Am competition prior to the PGA TOUR event.
“We’re proud to welcome THE CJ CUP back to the United States again this year,” CCO Kevin Coleman said. “We’re looking forward to sharing this unique event with customers and our team members, whether they’re watching in person or on television.”
