In Ireland, St. Patrick’s Day will be celebrated with parades, music and dancing in the streets for the first time since 2019. In addition to the traditional public holiday on March 17, March 18 has been declared a one-off holiday in Ireland in acknowledgement of pandemic-related difficult times.
St. Patrick’s Day parades and public celebrations are back in communities across the US too — from Dublin, CA, to Boston, MA, and south to Savannah, GA. Chicago’s famed South Side Irish parade was held last weekend after the Chicago River was dyed green. According to the National Retail Federation’s survey, almost twice as many Americans as in 2021 planned to attend a parade or a party this year.
