Today is National Forklift Safety Day

Today, June 9, National Forklift Safety Day highlights the importance of forklift operator safety training and forklift safety practices. The annual event sponsored by the Industrial Truck Association (ITA) for the seventh year, includes presentations from government representatives, safety experts and industry representatives, this year in a virtual format.

Now, during the COVID-19 pandemic as supply chain operations work around the clock to ensure the continual flow of products and resources across the country, it is especially important to emphasize safety related to the forklifts and forklift operators fundamental to supply chains everywhere.

In warehouses, distribution centers, manufacturing facilities and stores, forklifts move critically needed supplies – food and beverage, consumer goods of all types, medical devices, personal protective equipment – at one or more points in the supply chain. The men and women who operate the forklifts perform essential work in keeping America’s supply chain moving during these difficult times.

“We recognize the contributions our forklift operators, and all employees, are making for our customers’ supply chains and for the country,” said Joe Smiesko, Director, Safety, Security & Compliance, DSC Logistics, now CJ Logistics America. “And, because the safety and well-being of our employees is our highest priority, we know how crucial it is to reinforce the message of forklift safety.”

The [logistics center] team has always gone above & beyond in ensuring our ability to service our customers comes first. The team has always far exceeded the expectations of partnership between our companies.
