About 200,000 people across the US have tested positive for the coronavirus, and over 4,000 patients with the virus have died, according to sources. The federal guideline urging social distancing has been extended through April 30. Most Americans are under orders to stay home – or will be soon. Roughly 250 million people are being urged to stay home, and that number is rising daily.
The CDC is issuing domestic travel advisories urging residents to refrain from non-essential domestic travel for 14 days. The various shelter-at-home orders provide exceptions for employees of critical infrastructure industries, including but not limited to warehouse and trucking operations that are critical to the food and consumer products supply chain. The nation is depending on us to keep vital goods flowing to consumers.
As we know, much of the work we do to provide essential goods and services cannot be done from home, so in our warehouses and offices we must be even more vigilant about observing the workplace protocols we’ve put into effect to protect all of our employees and minimize disruption to operations. Please continue to follow the protocols diligently at all locations.
I implore all of us to consider how we are interacting with drivers who are taking great personal risk to travel across state lines to ship essentials to grocery stores and hospitals. We are asking drivers and office staff to take extra safety precautions and adhere to our established safety protocols. Let’s make all exchanges as safe and as compassionate as possible. We are all in this fight against COVID-19 together.
To all of our customers, thank you for acting as true partners during this time, collaborating to implement safety measures, and for all of the notes of encouragement you have sent our team. We have shared and celebrated your kind words over these past several weeks; your accolades and appreciation do so much to inspire us and keep us going, more than you may know.
I am grateful for your dedication and resilience; you all inspire me. Let’s keep America’s supply chain moving. One Future — One Team.
Thank you. Stay safe & healthy.
