Proactive preparation for hurricane season continues

As the official hurricane season – June 1 to September 30 – is now underway, DSC continues proactive preparation efforts, actively monitoring the National Hurricane Center’s website at the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), and working closely with dray carriers from the ports, national truckload and LTL carriers, and the railways to ensure awareness of any forecasted events and actual delays.

“During major weather events, we work closely with our carriers and customers to communicate any delays,” said Danielle Agnew, Director, Supply Chain Services, Integrated Customers. “And we send out updates on any storms and the impact on both operations and transportation.”

The NOAA’s Climate Prediction Center is predicting a near-normal 2019 Atlantic hurricane season and above-normal 2019 Eastern Pacific and Central Pacific hurricane season. An average hurricane season produces 12 named storms, of which 6 become hurricanes, including 3 major hurricanes.
