After yesterday’s first round of the 2022 Masters at Augusta National, Sungjae Im leads the field by one, becoming the first Korean player ever to top the Masters leader board after a round.

“Im, the 24-year-old South Korean known for rarely missing the center of the club face, ran off three straight birdies at the start, recovered from a pair of bogeys with a 12-foot eagle putt on the 13th and added a late birdie for a 5-under 67,” according to pgatour.com.

Im is one of the South Korean golfers sponsored by CJ Logistics. At the 2020 Masters, Im finished in a tie for second behind winner Dustin Johnson, his 273 the lowest score ever in a Masters debut. The PGA TOUR Rookie of the Year in 2018-19 (the first from Asia), he has earned two PGA TOUR victories, winning the Honda Classic in 2020 in his 50th tour start and the 2021 Shriners Children’s Open in his 100th start.
