New Managing Director leads Freight Forwarding expansion in North America

With a vision to lead in the integrated global supply chain management space and expand international freight forwarding capabilities, DSC Logistics, now CJ Logistics America, has hired Thomas Sweet, formerly Vice President of Global Forwarding for C.H. Robinson, as Managing Director, Freight Forwarding.

In this role, Sweet has responsibility for expanding freight forwarding operations in North America, part of CJ Logistics’ larger Global Freight Forwarding group. Reporting directly to Chief Transportation Officer Ken Heller, Sweet will be responsible for developing a team to support a growth plan, integrating the customer experience, implementing tier one technology and leading the operational performance of the North American Freight Forwarding division. Tony Chon, Vice President, Freight Forwarding Operations, who has been instrumental in building US freight forwarding for CJ, will be supporting Tom.

Earlier this year, DSC Logistics, CJ Logistics USA and CJ Logistics Canada joined together under one combined operating company named CJ Logistics America, LLC. The company will be doing business in the US as (dba) DSC Logistics through 2020, rebranding as CJ Logistics in 2021. Freight Forwarding is a division under the combined company and the plan is to integrate Mexico operations soon as well. The company’s combined North American platform includes over 80 locations, including warehouses, transportation, freight forwarding and corporate offices.

Freight Forwarding services include air freight forwarding, sea freight forwarding, customs clearance, special cargo transport, heavy & bulk cargo, inland transport, final delivery international express, storage, packing & crating, complex & expedited services, licenses & certifications, and network optimization consulting.
