DSC Logistics’ Chief Supply Chain Transformation Officer, Michelle Dilley, recently participated in a panel presentation at US CIA Headquarters in Langley/McLean, Virginia.
The panel, “Innovation in the Supply Chain: Perspectives from Leading Executives” was powered by AWESOME (Achieving Women’s Excellence in Supply Chain Operations, Management and Education), and was moderated by Heather Sheehan, Executive Director AWESOME.
Also participating were AWESOME network senior executive panelists Micaela Bulich, former VP, Onshore Wind Global Supply Chain, GE Renewables; Annette Danek-Akey, SVP Fulfillment, Penguin Random House; Brigadier General Kristin French, U.S. Army (retired), Chief of Staff, Defense Logistics Agency; and Susan Pellechio, former VP Transportation, Starbucks.
Michelle and the other panelists discussed building and leading innovative, agile supply chains as technology disruptors, rapidly-changing customer preferences, social media and other forces create challenges and opportunities requiring companies to adapt their production and supply chain capabilities. They addressed questions such as: How are organizations transforming their supply chains for innovation and agility? What major technology and other disruptors are forcing changes in supply chain strategies? How can supply chain leaders be catalysts for innovation and improved performance?
Sharing her ideas on and her experiences with successfully innovating and creating a high-performing supply chain, Michelle talked about why innovation is important in DSC’s supply chain and how DSC is adapting distribution, inventory management and other supply chain capabilities. She also discussed DSC’s innovative methods for meeting the challenge of attracting, retaining and developing supply chain talent and the challenge presented by disconnected technologies.
