Celebrating Chuseok, South Korea’s Thanksgiving

From September 16-18 of this year, the people of South Korea celebrate Chuseok, also known as Hangawi. This three-day holiday, which is referred to as Korean Thanksgiving, is a popular festival of the mid-Autumn harvest.

During this time, South Koreans spend cherished time with their families and pay respect to their ancestors with traditional customs and food. Chuseok is a celebration of a good harvest, attributed to the blessings of ancestors, and a hope that the next year will be even better. Autumn, a season of clear skies, cool winds and good harvesting weather, is a favorite time in South Korea.

Happy Chuseok to all of our Korean colleagues!
