National Truck Driver Appreciation Week – September 12-18 – honors America’s 3.6 million professional truck drivers for their hard work and commitment in safely delivering 72.5% of the country’s total freight tonnage. CJ Logistics America joins in recognizing truck drivers for their important contributions to the US economy and thanking them for all they do to keep the country’s supply chain moving. Appreciation for truck drivers is especially significant again this year, considering the essential role they have played and will continue to play through the COVID-19 pandemic.
A leader in integrated global supply chain management, CJ Logistics America knows how important drivers are to the company’s business as the company grows and evolves its transportation management business with new and existing customers and evolves in new directions with freight forwarding, asset-based fleet services and freight brokerage. “We make building close relationships with our carriers a high priority so that together we ensure customer needs are met,” said Doug Smith, Group General Manager of GNT, an expanding transportation division soon to be rebranded as CJ Logistics Transportation. “We value the relationships we have with our carrier partners and our partners’ drivers, and we recognize the vital contributions of the drivers at GNT.”
According to American Trucking Associations, the national trade association for the trucking industry, more than 80% of U.S. communities rely exclusively on truck drivers to deliver their goods and commodities – granting the nation’s most remote populations access to modern conveniences. Industry Data from ATA reports that nearly every good consumed in the US is put on a truck at some point.
