Safety is the foundation of everything we do.

SAFETY AT CJ LOGISTICS

From the way we design warehouse processes to the technology we put in our drivers' hands, safety shapes how we invest, how we train, and how we show up for our people and yours. The result: a Total Incident Rate more than 70% better than the industry average.

Why it matters

When safety comes first, performance follows.

We believe that, and our results back it up. Our Total Incident Rate sits more than 70% better than the industry average, not because of one initiative, but because of a company-wide commitment that runs through every level of our organization. We share these numbers openly, because transparency drives accountability.

Built in Culture

From our annual Summer of Safety initiative to our national forklift skills competition, we make safety something employees take part in, not just hear about.

Driven by Leaders

Our leaders set the standard and back it up with a DOT-incident-free record and first place in Division 1 at the TCA Fleet Safety Awards.

Scaled by Tech

AI-powered visibility across 40+ sites helps our people work safely and confidently, spotting risks before they become problems.

One goal, shared by every person on every shift.

We give 100% of our commitment, effort, responsibility, and accountability to a single outcome: ensuring our team and yours arrive home safely every single day. That mindset turns safety from a checklist into a habit, and the numbers follow.

It's a standard our teams set for themselves, reinforced every day through training, recognition, and the way we look out for one another.

Built in Culture

We've built an environment where safety is something employees actively participate in. Our annual Summer of Safety initiative blends education with engagement across the warehouse network, and our national forklift skills competition turns hard-won expertise into a celebration of precision and pride.

Competitors navigate obstacle courses, stack and re-stack pallets, and are judged on speed and accuracy. When people take ownership of safety, the results follow.

  • 13+ core safety training modules for every employee
  • Added certifications for equipment operators, supervisors, and first responders
  • Daily safety talks, monthly refreshers, and quarterly leadership reviews
  • Local safety committees at every Logistics Center
CJ Logistics Safety: Built in Culture

Driven by Leaders

Our commitment extends well beyond the warehouse. CJ Logistics America maintains a DOT-incident-free record, supported by an integrated technology stack that gives drivers and leaders the right context at the right time, earning first place in Division 1 at the Truckload Carriers Association's Fleet Safety Awards.

  • Real-time awareness: Live, proactive alerts from Drivewyze by Fleetworthy help drivers stay safe and compliant on the road.
  • In-depth insight: Samsara gives us a clear view of every mile, so we can understand and respond to on-road events.
  • Targeted coaching: Tenstreet turns that insight into specific, data-driven training, grounded in real performance.

Scaled by Tech

AI-powered visibility in the warehouse: Our culture and leaders set the standard. Technology helps us sustain and scale it. Since 2019, we've partnered with OneTrack to deploy an AI-powered Warehouse Operating System across more than 40 locations in North America.

Using AI camera sensors, real-time video alerts, and customizable analytics, the platform lets us be proactive instead of reactive. It also powers smarter coaching, pinpointing an employee's most challenging tasks so supervisors can offer tailored support instead of generic reminders.

Truckers Against Trafficking (TAT) logo

Fighting human trafficking

Safety doesn't stop at the boundaries of our operations. Our drivers travel the nation's highways every day, and that reach comes with responsibility.

Since 2022, we've partnered with Truckers Against Trafficking (TAT) to train our drivers to recognize and report the signs of human trafficking. Through TAT's training, they learn what to watch for and exactly how to report it, turning everyday routes into an extra set of eyes for the people who need them most.

Our drivers, the public's safety

Every mile our drivers cover is shared with families, commuters, and other professional drivers. We treat that as a responsibility, not just a compliance line.

Backed by real-time visibility from Samsara, our safety team can understand and act on on-road events quickly — the proactive approach behind our first-place finish in Division 1 at the TCA Fleet Safety Awards and our DOT-incident-free record. Everyone who shares the highway with us gets home safe, not only our own people.

Safety FAQ

Since 2019, we've partnered with OneTrack to deploy an AI-powered Warehouse Operating System across more than 40 North American locations. Using AI camera sensors, real-time video alerts, and analytics, the platform has driven a 73% reduction in potential safety events, with some sites reaching up to 98%.

We combine real-time alerts from Drivewyze by Fleetworthy, telematics insight from Samsara, and targeted, data-driven coaching through Tenstreet. This integrated approach earned first place in Division 1 at the Truckload Carriers Association's Fleet Safety Awards.

Our sites are held to AIB, ASI, FDA, ISO, and VAWD standards as applicable, verified through a combination of customer audits and independent third-party reviews.

Audit cadence depends on the standard. AIB and ASI audits are conducted annually at certified sites, FDA audits occur at FDA-compliant locations as required, and VAWD (by NABP) and ISO (by PRG) are conducted every three years. On top of these, customer audits and internal audits run continuously to maintain compliance.

We notify the affected customer immediately and maintain a clear communication cadence from there, with a 24/7 communication bridge for critical events. Each Logistics Center has a local safety committee that investigates the incident and implements preventative measures, with oversight from our Director of Safety, Security and Compliance.

Safety is governed through local safety committees at each Logistics Center, which share best practices, investigate incidents, and put preventative measures in place, all under the oversight of our corporate VP, Safety, Security and Compliance. This structure keeps accountability close to the operation while maintaining a consistent network-wide standard.

Every employee completes 13+ core safety modules, with additional certifications for equipment operators, supervisors, and first responders. Assessments confirm that employees have both the knowledge and the hands-on operating skills before they're cleared, and ongoing daily safety talks and monthly refreshers keep that training current.

Yes. Cold-chain sites carry the same safety culture plus controls specific to temperature-sensitive operations, including 24/7 refrigeration monitoring with automated alerts, daily manual verification, and weekly inspections. Some facilities are also designed with safety-first engineering choices, such as ammonia-free refrigeration systems.
