CJ Logistics America Holds Annual Forklift Skills Competition

Over the past few months, CJ Logistics America has been celebrating its Summer of Safety program, which was conducted at locations all throughout the company’s North American network. This initiative was created to educate and promote the many different ways that employees can keep themselves and each other safe while working in the warehouse.

As part of the Summer of Safety, each of CJ Logistics America’s warehouses held a forklift skills challenge. Dozens of employees participated across all of the company’s logistics centers, and the challenge involved both “standup” and “sitdown” forklift operations. The top 10 scorers from regions throughout the network were then selected to compete at CJ Logistics America’s second annual Forklift Skills Competition on September 19 at the company’s warehouse in Elwood, Illinois.

This final contest involved participants maneuvering their forklifts through an obstacle course and skillfully moving pallets, shooting baskets, and bowling. Participants were judged on both their time and accuracy within this course, and it was a highly competitive event.

Scott Allen won the standup competition, with Isaiah Rodriguez and Simone Lipscombe finishing in second and third place, respectively. Steve Kistler won the sitdown challenge, and Gilbert Reyes and Tyrone Pugh finished in second and third, respectively. Check out the recap video of the event here.

We would like to congratulate these winners and extend our thanks to all of the CJ Logistics America employees who participated in this competition. We appreciate all of our workers throughout the world who made this a successful Summer of Safety, and look forward to next year’s competition.

The [logistics center] team has always gone above & beyond in ensuring our ability to service our customers comes first. The team has always far exceeded the expectations of partnership between our companies.
